Nissan Patrol Y62
service & repair

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Everything below is work we do in house, on Y62s, on our own lifts. Engine and gearbox units come out and go on the bench rather than being replaced on a guess. For a quote, message us with the model year, the mileage and what the car is doing.

Diagnostics & Road Test

A stored code tells us which circuit complained, not what failed. We scan, then drive the car and put it on the lift, because a P0300 on a VK56VD can be coils, injectors or a vacuum leak and those look nothing alike under load.

Gearbox & Torque Converter

The seven-speed is the part of the Y62 we open most. Fluid condition first, then valve body and solenoids. If the converter is breaking down we pull the unit out and rebuild it on the bench rather than guess from a scan tool.

Engine Rebuild

Heads off, block out, everything measured before anything is ordered. We do timing chain and guide work, valve stem seals, head gasket and full bottom-end rebuilds, and we show you the worn parts next to the new ones.

Suspension & Ride Control

Wheels off, every bush and ball joint checked by hand. On HBMC cars we test the hydraulic circuit before condemning anything, since a leaking accumulator and a tired damper feel similar from the driver's seat and cost very different amounts.

AC Service & Repair

Recover, vacuum, leak test, recharge by weight. A Y62 that cools on the move but not at idle is usually a condenser airflow or fan problem, not a compressor, and we would rather find that than sell you a compressor.

Cooling System & Overheating

Radiator, water pump, thermostat and cooling fans. Overheating is diagnosed by pressure test and temperature reading, not by guessing, because the cheap causes and the expensive ones look identical from the driver's seat.

Brakes Pads & Discs

Pads and discs measured against the figures, not judged by eye. Within thickness and wearing evenly, a disc gets skimmed. With a lip or scoring it gets replaced. You see the old parts next to the new ones either way.

Periodic Service

Oil, filters, brake fluid, coolant and gearbox fluid, on intervals set for heat and dust rather than the book figure. If you run low-range in sand regularly we shorten the gearbox and differential fluid intervals and tell you why.

Tell us what it is doing

Describe the noise, the leak or the warning light on WhatsApp and we will tell you what usually causes it on a Y62 and what we would check first.
