Nissan Patrol Y62
service, Dubai

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Quick answer: Oil, filters, brake fluid, coolant and gearbox fluid, on intervals set for heat and dust rather than the book figure. If you run low-range in sand regularly we shorten the gearbox and differential fluid intervals and tell you why. Send your mileage and how the car is used and we will tell you what is actually due.

What the job involves

A service on a Y62 in this climate is not the same job as the same service in a temperate market, and the interval printed in the book assumes conditions that do not exist here for several months of the year.

The routine items are the routine items: engine oil and filter, air and cabin filters, brake fluid and coolant checked and changed on condition, and the gearbox fluid inspected rather than ignored until something goes wrong.

What changes is the interval. Sustained heat shortens the useful life of oil and transmission fluid. Fine sand loads filters and the condenser stack faster than dust in a cooler climate. Low-range work in soft sand puts sustained load through the driveline at low airflow, which is the hardest combination for fluid temperature.

So we set the interval from how the car is actually used, and we tell you what we based it on. A car doing school runs on tarmac and a car doing dune weekends are not on the same schedule, even at the same mileage.

What we check first

Every service includes a look at the things this climate breaks first:

  • Engine oil condition as well as level, since heat ages oil faster than distance does
  • Gearbox fluid colour and smell, which is the earliest warning the JR710E gives
  • Coolant condition and the state of the radiator and condenser stack for sand blockage
  • Brake fluid moisture content, which climbs faster in humidity
  • Air and cabin filters, both of which load quickly here
  • Differential and transfer case fluid if the car sees regular off-road use

How bad is it? A symptom ladder

If you are not sure whether a service is due, this is roughly how we look at it:

  • On scheduleMileage and time both within interval, oil still clean on the dipstick, no change in how the car drives.
  • Due soonApproaching the interval, or the car has done a run of hot traffic or off-road work since the last service.
  • OverdueOil dark on the dipstick, gearbox fluid darkening, or a season of summer driving since the last visit regardless of what the odometer says.
  • Do not waitBurnt smell from any fluid, a warning light, or a car that has skipped a service interval entirely. Deferred fluid changes are the cheapest problem to fix and the most expensive to ignore.

Booking it in

Send the model year, the current mileage, roughly when it was last serviced and how you use the car. Daily commuting, weekend off-road, towing. We will tell you what is actually due rather than reading the interval off a chart.

Frequently asked questions

How often should a Y62 be serviced in Dubai?

More often than the printed interval if the car sees summer traffic or regular off-road use. We set it from condition and usage rather than mileage alone, and we tell you what we based the recommendation on.

Do you use the correct fluids for the gearbox and engine?

We use fluids to the specification the components require. If you want to know exactly what is going in your car, ask us before the service and we will tell you.

Can you service the car if I bought it used with no history?

Yes, and it is a good reason to come in. With no records we work from fluid condition and what the inspection shows, then set an interval from there. That is more useful than guessing at what the previous owner did.

Do I need a major service or a minor one?

That depends on mileage, time since the last service and how the car is used. Send those three things and we will tell you which items are genuinely due rather than selling you the larger package by default.

Not sure what is due?

Send the mileage and how you use the car. We will tell you what actually needs doing at this interval.
